Big Brother Season 12: A Giant Paint Can Produces the New HoH and Ragan the Saboteur
We walked into last night's episode of Big Brother knowing that we would find out who the new HoH would be and if they would open Pandora's Box to unleash the new saboteur. It was revealed during the last episode that Ragan was chosen by fans of the show who texted in to become the new saboteur. But would Pandora's Box be opened to unleash him and if so, would he accept the offer?
Oh, so nerve racking. Kind of.
So last night's episode picked right up where the last left off--watching the house guests spin around on a giant paint can that they had to hold onto while being doused with paint and periodically being hit in the face with a giant paint brush. CBS, where do you get these competition ideas?
Rachel is the out-going HoH, meaning she was not allowed to participate in the new HoH competition. That did not stop her, however, from being a total nuisance to Brendon as he attempted to keep his arms through the railing wrapping around the gigantic paint can. Every few seconds or whenever Brendon would re-position his arms or squat down to try to make the pressure and ache in his arms subside for a little while, she would start cheerleading him, saying 'Good job Brendon!' 'You got this, keep going!' 'You're doing so good!' 'You're a swimmer, you can do this!' Now sure, she's rooting for "her man" and all and that could be considered a very nice thing for her to do. However, when someone is in physical pain and you're rooting them on, it tends to get a little annoying and after a while, it gets down right frustrating. Combine that with the fact that, as I have stated many times, Rachel's voice can give anyone a headache in a record amount of time and I think it's pretty safe to say that if this woman would just shut her mouth, he wouldn't have been the second one off the paint can, bringing him and Rachel's dream of staying in a powerful position within the house to a close.
As soon as Brendon was on the ground, the show cut to the brigade talking about how they need to stay strong throughout the HoH competition to get someone from the brigade in there to get rid of Rachel and Brendon. Hayden has always wanted to break up the Rachel/Brendon showmance, which Renee and I have stated numerous times is because we think he wants all the attention from every woman in the house. He's probably very used to it being that way and we figured he just felt threatened by other good looking men in the house. But that was before Hayden had his very own showmance with Kristen. Rachel got Kristen kicked out of the house during the last episode of Big Brother and that has really sent Hayden on the 'Must Destroy Rachel and Brendon' warpath. If I had any doubt whatsoever about Hayden before, the moment I saw Big Brother show his mother and home life, but especially his mother, I understood why he acts the way he does in pretty much every situation we have seen him in. The guy is just used to getting his way.
After Brendon loses the paint can HoH competition, Rachel is pretty upset with him because she said Brendon hasn't been doing very well in HoH competitions at all and it has been up to her to keep winning them. When Brendon confronts her and asks if she's upset, she says she isn't, that he did the best he could and oh yes, he better win the Power of Veto. Way to pick up your man when he's down, Rachel! Oh, and another thing, just because you won two of five HoH competitions does not mean you "always win them" or have to in order to carry Brendon throughout the game. My mind, it's overflowing with garbage Rachel plants in there during every episode of this show.
Both Britney and Ragan threw the HoH competition because they did not want to be the people who would have to put Brendon and Rachel up on the block, since they are playing both sides of the field within the house at the moment. They are friends with the brigade, feeling safe and secure in the game and they are also giving Brendon and Rachel the impression that they are their friends in order to keep peace and to not piss Rachel off. As history proves again and again, it seems that once you piss Rachel off, you leave the house--especially if you're a woman.
Matt won the HoH competition for the second time and everyone was a little surprised because Matt, who is super scrawny, as now won two endurance competitions and no one knows how this can be! Matt being the HoH again of course upsets Rachel, who knows he is going to go after her and Brendon. What's still pretty funny is that Rachel and Brendon have no idea that Matt is part of the brigade and think he is playing alone with no other people in an alliance with him. When Rachel goes to Matt to plead her case, she mentions that he's all alone and needs her, which should be enough to keep her around.
After Matt showed off his HoH room and everyone filtered out, he read the note about Pandora's Box and chose to open it after he saw what was inside--a diamond PoV medal that could be used for the next two weeks to save someone who has been put up for eviction and not only that, but he can also choose who takes the person's place on the block. The catch is that he has to keep the medal secret and cannot disclose why he is making any game-changing move. Having to keep his prize from Pandora's Box a secret, he proceeds to tell the house guests that he merely won the $1 card (using the same dollar card from the first HoH competition) and warns them that something bad is probably going to happen to them soon because he did indeed open Pandora's Box.
As we already know, because Matt opened Pandora's Box, he released the new saboteur. Ragan received a note in the Diary Room informing him that he was chosen by fans of the show to become the next saboteur. The deal was that if he accepted, he would have to pull off three stunts and avoid eviction for the next two weeks. If he could do that, he would be awarded with $20,000. After much deliberation, Ragan accepted and became the new saboteur. Because Big Brother likes to keep fan participation in the show alive and well, you can suggest pranks for Ragan by going to cbs.com/bbtwist.
I'm sure that if Matt were all by his lonesome in the Big Brother house he would jump into an alliance with Rachel and Brendon, but since he is part of the brigade and the brigade wants the two of them out, or just one for the time being so they don't have to consistently see them swapping spit, which I could do without too, Matt did end up going with the brigade's decision to put Rachel and Brendon up for eviction.
Rachel was a mess after she found out she and Brendon were nominated for eviction and then commented on how she has so many wrinkles from being on Big Brother. So many in fact, that she will have to get another Botox injection. Very nice, Rachel.
So what's in store for Wednesday's episode? All we know right now is that Jeff and Jordan will return to the house, which we knew from last Thursday's episode, but it was reiterated again as the show ended. I have no idea who they are, except for the fact that they were involved in a showmance on a previous season of the show. So, if you are a Big Brother fan and know who Jeff and Jordan are, please enlighten me in the comments.
